Michelle Sims

Michelle began her dance training at the age of fourteen, after training for eleven years as a competitive gymnast. She trained in jazz, hip-hop, ballet, and modern at The Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities, where at sixteen, was hired to teach within the Hip-Hop program. She has continued to teach and choreograph for the last seventeen years. 

Following high school, Michelle attended Metropolitan State University and earned a degree in Exercise Science and Business Management. Upon turning eighteen, Michelle earned a spot on the professional modern company, Ascential Dance Theater. She also danced with the Metropolitan State University hip-hop team, the Aristocrats, and has performed in many showcases and productions throughout Denver including dancing in a web commercial for Bellco Credit Union and opening for hip-hop artist, Trina, at the Summit Music Hall. Most recently, Michelle has become a published dancer, appearing in idance magazine.

Michelle has also established herself in the competition circuit, working nationally for Spotlight Dance Cup as a stage manager and dance down instructor. 

Michelle is currently the lead instructor at Flatirons Dance, teaching jazz, acro, hip-hop and technique. She has built a multi-level acro program from the ground up and works primarily with the competition team, where she has created numerous award-winning pieces. Additionally, Michelle has been selected by Mountain Range High School to develop their first ever Poms team. 

When Michelle is not dancing, you can find her at the gym and utilizing her education in fitness and nutrition to create well rounded fitness classes and help clients develop healthy lifestyle change. She has appeared on Channel 2’s “What’s Your Workout” and has appeared on fitness brand Instagram pages such as Booty Spout and Glute Boost, promoting exercise and an active lifestyle.
